ROBBIE IS BIG "FAKE"
[24 May 2002] dotmusic
Noel Gallagher has reignited his war of words with Robbie Williams claiming the pop star is "the biggest fake he's ever met".

The Oasis man - who famously described Robbie as "the fat dancer from Take That" - said he'd like to "kick him down the stairs a couple of times."

"I think Robbie is a very very misguided, easily led, stupid, foolish young individual, who'd definitely benefit from a slapping," Gallagher said in the latest issue Now magazine.

"I'd probably kick him down the stairs a couple of times, not that I'm a violent person," he continued. "I think he needs to be held down by people in white coats and slapped around the face for half an hour. Robbie's the biggest fake ever and yet he thinks he's Elvis."

Noel also said watching Robbie's recent tour documentary 'Nobody Someday' made him want to vomit.

Oasis release their new single 'Stop Crying Your Heart Out' on June 17.

Liam Gallagher won't sing about Nazis
[22 May 2002] NME
LIAM GALLAGHER draws the line when it comes to singing about NAZIS, NME.COM can reveal. Following last week's exclusive story that Liam was guest vocalist on the title track of Death In Vegas' forthcoming 'Scorpio Rising' LP, NME.COM has learned that he baulked at singing some of the lyrics as they were originally written because they alluded to "the Fuhrer".

Noel Gallagher told NME.COM this week: "Liam's weird about that kind of thing He's like going to me, 'I'm not too sure about some of these lyrics'. And I'm going, 'Look just go down there and tell them. You're in the biggest band in the fookin' country. Just go in there and tell them. Do what you do here, you fucking arrogant little twat.'"

Death In Vegas's Richard Fearless confirms that Liam refused to sing the lines. He said: "The actual lines I wrote first were, "Harrison murals on the corner/Insane men preaching the fuhrer', because we found this Nazi selling memorabilia on the street and preaching. Liam didn't want to sing about the Fuhrer, though. He was, like, 'I get where you're coming from, but I'm not doing it'."

'Scorpio Rising' is due for release in September. For more on this story, see this week's NME, which is out now.

Liam Gallagher goes solo
[14 May 2002] NME
LIAM GALLAGHER has been moonlighting from OASIS, working with both DEATH IN VEGAS and the PRODIGY. NME.COM can exclusively reveal that Liam takes lead vocals on the title track of the forthcoming Death In Vegas album 'Scorpio Rising'. A dark six-minute psychedelic epic, it will draw inevitable musical comparisons with The Beatles 'I Am The Walrus' while lyrically the song is a drug-fuelled stream-of-consciousness, the chorus running: "I want to go to Heaven/Never been there before/I want to go to Heaven/So give me some more". NME.COM understands that Liam didn't write the lyrics; they were the result of a three-way collaboration between Richard Fearless, Harry Pratt (an ex-sports journalist and one of Fearless' best friends) and Oasis video-maker Wiz.

Speaking about his involvement with Liam, Fearless told NME.COM: "He's the greatest rock'n'roll singer in the world as far as I'm concerned. That's why we wanted to work with him. Basically, we were of the mind that if he didn't want to do it, we weren't going to put the track on the album. It was brilliant when he said he was up for it, we were over the moon."

Gallagher also claimed he has been working with Prodigy on a new track. For more, see this week's NME, out nationwide tomorrow.

Oasis Snub TOTP
[2 May 2002] dotmusic
Oasis have vowed never to play Top Of The Pops again after recording a live performance of their number one single, 'The Hindu Times'. According to tabloid reports, Noel Gallagher has said the band will not return to the BBC music show and claims the studio crew are amateurs.

"They were so unprofessional", he said. "They are a bunch of f***ing amateurs and we will never go back to that place again. "They cut six seconds from one of the songs. They have been doing it for 35 years and they still can't get it right."

He continued: "I had to stay up until five o'clock in the morning the day before I came out to America because I was mixing the tape some idiot should have done on the night. "It was some idiot who is paid to do it for a living but can't be bothered because he is doing the sound on some other show the week after. "We will never play Top Of The Pops again and I certainly won't be singing live for the BBC's awful programmes", he said.

However, a spokesperson for the show explained: "Oasis came into the studio to perform seven songs, which will be used over the course of the year. "Because it was a live performance we asked them if they wanted to use a multi-track to record a mix of the songs themselves." She added: "They already had their own sound guy at the studios, and agreed. So if Noel doesn't like any of the sound it is his own fault - he chose to mix it. "There are no hard feelings on our side. I'm sure once it has all calmed down they will come back on the show. They are only one band and they need us more than we need them."
