OUTSIDE OF FRENCH QUARTER
Only French Quarter is New Orleans. Take streetcars or cars,
let's see another part of New Orleans.
ST. CHARLES STREETCAR
The tour riding on a St. Charles Streetcar is enjoyable and
reasonable. From downtown to uptown, you can see the changing
of the street.
Fare; $1
Transfer; 10c
JIMMY'S
8200 Willow St.
866-9549
We intended to see Marcia Ball's
show. We couldn't see her Jazz Fest. stage, though I found that
she had a gig at Jimmy's. That was our last night in New Orleans.
I was so glad that I would be able to see her show, at last.
But unfortunately, there was the opening act "Paula &
the Pontiacs" at that night. They played until midnight.
They were not bad, but we saw their Jazz Fest. stage already.
And we were so tired and sleepy. We waited for Marcia after midnight.
It would be long time until her show and finally we gave up.
Jimmy's was comfortable place. There were lots of local college
students and they were very frank. You can reach there by St.
Charles Streetcar, though, a taxi or a car is better for you
to return to downtown in a midnight hour.
LOUISIANA SUPERDOME
1500 Poydras St.
587-3810
Now there is Tokyo Dome in Japan, but I was so surprised when
I first see Superdome. I had never seen huge stadium like this.
Available Superdome tour; Adults $6, Kids $4
CITY PARK
1 Dreyfous Ave.
482-4888
Near Lake Pontchartrain. There are Botanical Gardens, Amusement
Park, Storyland and New Orleans Museum of Art.
It will take 20 minutes from French Quarter to City Park by
bus.
LAKE PONTCHARTRAIN & CAUSEWAY BRIDGE
Lake Pontchartrain is very huge, and of course, the bridge
across the lake is the longest in the world.
It will take 60 minutes from end to end by car.
ST. LOUIS CEMETERIES
Cemeteries of New Orleans are different from that of any other
area. There are flood in New Orleans, so it's unable to bury
dead bodies in the ground directly.
I recalled the scene from Easy Rider.
