Profile
MATSUMOTO MONTZ' music style is very unique.  His music is great mixture of folk and bluegrass with the flavor of Japanese local music and the spice of Indian traditional.  He started his music career as a professional musician in 1987 with the legendary Japanese folk group "Takaishi Tomoya & The Natasha Seven".  But he left the group soon, and he went to South India to study about traditional vocal and rhythm theory.  After returning to Kyoto, he formed his group with some musicians included a great percussion player Robin Lloyd and a mandolin player Miyazaki Katsuyuki.  He recorded his original songs with his group and released his first CD in 1996.  In 1997, he supported Peter Rowan's Okinawa Tour.  He has lived in Australia since 2002.  He was awarded the first place in Francis Folk Gathering Musicianship Contest and the Band Contest in 2003 and in 2004.  His original song in Japanese language has received high evaluation in Australia.  He released his second CD "Banjo Moon" in 2007.
