Please come experience the sound of good ol' America. Hideo DATE: Born in 1967 in Kagawa Prefecture and raised in Toyama Prefecture, Japan. He started playing guitar at the age of thirteen. He self-taught himself beginning with rock and then moved on to the blues. At the age of 24 he went overseas to the United States of America. He made the city of Berkeley in the San Francisco Bay Area his home and base for his activities as a professional guitarist and instructor. Moving from acoustic blues to jazz, he created his own unique finger picking style with influences from Wes Montgomery and Kenny Burrell. Using A=432 Hz tuning, he seeks that profound and soothing sound that is the allurement of jazz guitar. Thanks to his long residence in America, although Japanese, he understands and expresses the philosophy of true American jazz. He has released several CDs. View and support the charity exhibition during Kyoto's Gion Matsuri Festival. Monkee LeiFA Macau-born illustrator & designer based in Hong Kong, playfully nicknamed for her slender frame. Her art exhibited internationally in Macau, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Taipei, London and Kyoto (Uzura Gallery). Friendship with Uzura Gallery's owner stemmed from travel bonding. Monkee's cross-cultural works are inspired by her background at top advertising firms and company creating Japanese toys and products. |
