Liam Gallagher is set to replace Pete Doherty in this year's Celebrity Soccer Six tournament, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Oasis frontman will be lacing up his boots while Doherty serves his 14 week sentence, after he was late to a probation session.

The soccer tournament, which is being held at Millwall's ground, The Den, on May 18 and Reading's Madejeski Stadium on Bank Holiday (May 26), has in the past seen the likes of Kasabian, Goldie Lookin Chain, Blur and Razorlight taking to the field.

Last year Doherty's band won the tournament after he scored in the final. Over 150 celebrities will be taking part in this year's footy bash next month.
