| I started playing the tenor banjo when I was 13 years old in my home town,Kasiwa City,Chiba, Japan.I played the tenor banjo through high school.Later,I heard recordings by Eddie Peabody,Doug Mattocks,Brad Roth and Buddy Wachter and they influenced me to take up the plectrum banjo also. I have my own unique style but I was strongly influenced by Harry Reser,Fred Van Eps and Perry Bechtel. At 18,I turned proffessional and joined"Dixie Castle"a Tokyo-based band with a roaring 20's and Dixieland style.I have played with George Probert, formerly of the"Firehouse Five plus Two"and with Charlie Tagawa, leader of the Peninsula Banjo Band in San Jose,California, and with world's great banjoists such as Lee Floyd III,Sean Moyses,John Raynolds,Paul Scarvarda,Pat Cloud,Tom Stuip,Cynthia Sayor and so on. |
I enjoy bringing the happy sound of the banjo to music lovers of all ages.
