UK rock's best recent feud ends 2 July 2004 [NME]
UK rock's best recent feud has come to an end as OASIS and STARSAILOR have kissed and made up.
The bands fell out spectacularly two years ago at the T In The Park festival when Starsailor frontman James Walsh approached Noel Gallagher to ask why he had called him a cock in interview. Gallagher replied that he didn't remember he had, but that if he did then Walsh probably was. Liam Gallagher became embroiled when he weighed into the argument and squared up to Walsh. The bands then fired several barbs at each other over the following months. However, at Glastonbury last weekend (June 26), Liam approached James and made his peace. "After Starsailor's set, the band went back to their dressing room and Liam was there," a source close to the band told NME.COM. "He held out his hand and told James life was too short for the fighting. And that was basically it. He hung about for a while afterwards having a drink and chewing the fat. So the feud is at an end." At the height of the fall-out, NME minted special 'You Cock!' badges and circulated them during the 2002 summer festivals. Starsailor are currently writing material for their third album. They expect to start recording before the end of the year. Watch Glastonbury again! 27 Jun 2004 [BBC]

In-between beating Snow Patrol in fundraising football matches (Final Score: 3-1) and being generally charitable blokes, Starsailor have been speaking exclusively to Xfm about their upcoming 'heaviest ever' single.
Xfm caught up with Starsailor at this weekend's Soccer Sixes charity football showdown to hear about their new music direction and standalone new single. "We've recorded a new song to coincide with the festivals," bassist James Stelfox explained, "The title's not confirmed yet, but it'll probably be called 'In My Blood'. Its quite heavy and definitely the heaviest thing we ever done - its quite a departure from our usual stuff." "We're still sorting out a release date for the single," he continued. "The record company want to rush in, but we want to give it to radio for a few weeks beforehand or maybe just do release as a download." "It won't be on an album, it'll just be a limited release for one week over the festival period to keep us ticking over. Stelfox went on to comment on how the band's new album is coming along and gave a possible date for fans to hear new material. "We start work on the new album in September, but we're constantly writing songs," he explained. "We always write on the road and in rehearsals. We've got about eight or nine at the moment, but they're just called song A, Song B and 'The-One-In-A-Major'. We should have a new album out by January - fingers crossed." Speaking of the festival season, Stelfox confirmed that his band will be playing the main stage at Glastonbury 2004 as well as a whole heap of other outdoor appearances. "We're going to be third down the bill at Glastonbury, before Paul McCartney [on Saturday June 26] who's a hero of mine, so that'll be great. And the Black Eyed Peas will be on after us, which will be interesting... A bit of a weird one that." "We'll also be doing V2004, T In The Park, Oxegen and about 15 other festivals in Europe so we'll be really busy" he continued. "We'd like to get into the studio over the summer, but it won't happen now until after this trip I don't think." Starsailor's second album 'Silence Is Easy' is out now and keep checking Xfm Online for all the news of the band's next single. More big names join Soccer Six line-up 20 Apr 2004 [NME]

STARSAILOR played a tiny hometown pub show last night (February 29).
The band played to 150 people at the Strangeways Arms in Hindley, Warrington, as a warm-up for tonight's Passport charity show at Liverpool Barfly. The show came about as a chance to give family and friends who could not get tickets for Liverpool a chance to see the band in an intimate setting. Yet there was also a sentimental reason for the show. The Strangeways Arms is owned by Starsailorfs former security guard Dave Westhead, who broke his leg while working for the band at the V2002 festival. The band helped Westhead buy the pub after his injury and they remain close friends - a fact that was underlined when Westhead joined them onstage to sing 'Fever'. The setlist ran:
