COZY:VOCAL

HARADA:BASS

YOSHINORI:GUITAR

TADAI:DRUMS

The band formed some years ago. The foundation had been existing for a while with

Yoshinori on guitar, Tadai on drums and Ton-chan on the bass. The vocalist had never

been the same person for long. The band practiced many time without any voice.

In 1992 the present vocalist, Cozy, returned from the States and joined the band

as a regular.

The sound started shifting to music with samplers and sampling noise. The name of

the band become to be "MONDO CONDO", and things looked like they were taking off,

but...

After only a few gigs, Ton-chan, on the bass, split. Many unsuccesful auditions for

replacement followed and all members of the band felt stuck.

After setting for a sampling computer instead of a bass player, the band became

active again, with one human less.

The sound changed due to the use of the sampling computer and became

Hard Core Techno, with tastes to Hip-Hop.

After countless live performances "Guts Groove! MONDO CONDO" is released.

The limit of 1000 is sold out.

In 1993 the band passes an auditiou to play at the "LIME LIGHT" in New York,

but on the day refuses to show up.

In 1996 the first album "J.A.P. THE RIPPER" is released. The mix of instrumental

and digital sound is applauded by a fair croud, but the urge for a "Human"

bass grows stronger in each member strongly, Harada joins as a bassist.

From that day, the audience seemed to enjoy the performance a lot more.

"J.A.P. THE RIPPER" leaves an impression on Jello Biafra (ex DEAD KENNEDIES).

Through his network the band takes part in a compilation recordings

released by Broken ear (U.S.A.) in 1997. MONDO CONDO supplies two tunes.

The recording is sold in Europe and the U.S.A.

In 1998 MONDO CONDO starts working on their second album.

In September of the same years they release a 7"inch E.P. (4 songs)

as a "preview"

In October they take part in "GOT PUNK?", a compilation recording released

by Broken ear (U.S.A.) . MONDO CONDO submits 3 tunes. The album is sold

in Europe and the U.S.A.

1998 turns out to be an extremly busy year with gigs, tours, recordings

and releases.

In February of 1999 MONDO CONDO is introduced in a photograph collection

book "Hard Core" by the photographer Hiroko Matsushita.

April sees the release of their second album, "CATCH EACH OTHER".

The album is almost totally sold out by reservation only berore

the release date.

In August, the magazine "Maximum R&R" reviews MONDO CONDO's

7"inch and gives "Excellent", top marks.
