Biography

Telephone rang from Miffy Fujita, the drummer who is a band member for the past 5 at cold night in January, 1998.

"Hi, Nonaka. I will have a dinner together though a smart fashionable restaurant is known."

I followed her as I was asked. Then, that was the spit roasting shop of the good small ventilation in Shinjuku wee-wee side street.

"This hormone roasting is very delicious!"

".............................." .

As I was recommended, I ordered the built-in thing that it was unfamiliar with the mouth such as Shiro and Hatsu.

"I think that it will say from the old days, and I haven't ever been able to say....."

Fujita had glass liquor in one hand, and began to talk.

"I go to the front, and want to act violently rather than in fact a drum is struck!"

"! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !"

Two people celebrated new band formation with the toast. It did like this, and THE MIGHTY MOGULS raised the first cry like a male shout.

(Chucky Nonaka talks.)

It was a cold night in January 1998. Miffy invited Chucky to Shonben Yokocho, a back alley in Shinjuku Tokyo. The two of them sat at the counter of a small, cramped yakitori place.

At that time Miffy was a drummer and had never been a vocalist, but suddenly she made a statement. "Instead of being a drummer, I wanna get up the front and sing and be crazy!" It was decided then and there....the beginning of a new band with Miffy as the vocalist and they celebrated by drinking sake. This is how The Mighty Moguls came into existence.

Miffy and Chucky began to practice, and it was just the two of them. It was so ridiculously funny at times that they would end up in fits of laughter, and the next day would be sore from all the laughing. They still hadn't found a drummer and it was already Springtime. They couldn't find a polite enough drummer to play with such unskilled musicians.

In the Autumn of 1999,, the present drummer Masato showed up! He was an awesome drummer. Miffy and Chucky were worried that he too would leave after a short time, so they told him, "You don't fit in with this band". But he was stubborn and said, "I wanna play!". And so they added Masato to the lineup. His drumming was received very well and they were on their way riding a groovy wave.

On New Year's of 2000, they have their sound recorded by Mr.Komori of Beat Mints Studio. The sound recorded at that time was sold with the title of "Pre-sounds" by the cassette tape.

After that, they participated in a release of various artists, " Inst & Shout". It was loud and wild as usual. Around this time Miffy's voice had become thick and husky. It was due to this change that their sound became wild and primitive and the Moguls had created their own unique style.

In May, Junior Varsity came to Japan from Houston, Texas, USA. Luckily, the Moguls were able to play on the same bill with them on their Japan Tour. It was a great experience for them, and they were knocked out by the cuteness of Junior Varsity's character and style.

At that time, there was this guy sitting in the aoudience staring at the stage. It was this guy who ended up playing sax with them, Mr. Yama!

They played a lot of gigs from September 2000 through March of 2001. For instance, they played at college festivals, high school dance parties, and at a hotel party in Atami. But of all these gigs,

the Texas Tour is the one that really hit home for them. They got to play where they had always dremed of playing at, in the birthland of Rock & Roll, America. The gigs were a success and they began recording the 1st album "Teenage Party with the MIGHTY MOGULS" the day after they came back to Japan.

The album put on the market in July recorded the head in the college chart of each place in Japan! The fans who aren't watching their live show yet are in the district. The Mighty Moguls is supported by few frantic fans. There are many woman fans in spite of the woman's band. It is because of Miffy's wild character. In 2002, the Mighty Moguls' wild hot and stupid live show strikes it in Europe!!!
