「バードランドの子守唄」


「バードランドの子守唄」を聴いていると、
なんだか、気持ちがウキウキとしてくる。
地下にあるジャズ・クラブにつづく、階段をおりて行く。
そんな気分に、なってきます。
　ドアに近づくにつれて、もれて聴こえてくる音楽の
ボリュームが上がる。そして、胸の高まりも・・・。

「バードランド」というのは、1950年にマンハッタン52丁目に
オープンしたジャズ・クラブで、1965年まであったそうです。
店名はもちろん、チャーリー・パーカーの愛称「バード」
にちなんでつけられたものだそうです。

この曲は、「バードランド」で行われたディスク・ジョッキー
の集会のテーマ曲として、ジョージ・シアリングが
たったの10分で作ったとか。
それにB.Y.フオスターが詩をつけました。
